About me
Matthew Jakovljevic - Osteopath and Pilates instructor
Bachelor of Clinical Science Masters in Health Science (Osteopathy)
After treating in several private practices over the last 10 years, I thought it was time for me to branch out on my own. I pride myself on providing outstanding clinical care in a homely environment. Me and Huxley the cavoodle can’t wait to see you!
I have a strong medical/orthopedic focus and practice a form of manual therapy that will feel both familiar and efficient; I combine good soft tissue work with dry needling and manipulation as required.
You will always leave your appointment with me knowing exactly:
· what is happening or wrong with you
· how long it will take to get better, and
· what the ‘plan B’ is.
I love creating and prescribing the perfect set of exercises that will not only be good for you but also fit into your busy life. I have trained in clinical pilates and love yoga, which both influence my rehabilitation style. I also have a good relationship with local sports medicine and pain doctors, should we need to expand your treating team.
My interest in the human body and osteopathy began as a teen, searching for the answers to my own back pain; my ‘superpower’ is my understanding of what it is to be in ongoing pain – and what it takes to overcome it.
My broad experience and hands-on skills combined with a streak of nerdiness about my chosen field meant that in my final year of university, I was recognised by receiving the esteemed COCA (Chiropractic Osteopathic College of Australasia) award for the top graduating student.
I also work at Victoria University, passing on my knowledge to our budding osteopathic minds.
Outside of work, I have just walked the 1000km length of the South Island of New Zealand. Ask me about me it, I will talk to anyone who will listen. I am also keen veggie gardener and spent a lot of the lockdowns ripping out our lawn to turn our garden into an urban farm. My beautiful wife Katie currently supports these ideas but is keeping an eye on when she needs to reign my energy back in.
